I’m publishing my utopian/dystopian novel, The Lost City of Desire, chapter by chapter here Substack as an experiment about the future of book publishing. Wait, that sounds kind of cold. I’m definitely also publishing it this way because, like most writers, I always crave an audience. I think there is an audience on this platform that is serious about writing and reading. I want to connect.
My goal is to find 1,000 people who really, deeply appreciate my work. Who are interested in reading more. Who want to see what the future will bring for writers and readers in this rapidly evolving world. I want to share my work with you all, and also introduce you to the writer’s life. And to other writers who I hope to publish here at Everlands.
You are vital to this effort, and I appreciate those of you who have signed up early in the process. If anyone needs advice about writing, or has questions about the publishing world, which I have been navigating for about 45 years, please reach out. I’m happy to help. I’m not famous or even just famous in France. But I do know a bit. And I love to see people take a risk and write their stories. I make my living these days ghostwriting books — helping people who have great stories, but perhaps not the time to write them, get their books out.
I like books.
